The guest, Matthew Cockle, appears to operate on the erroneous premise that the laws of Canada are prima facie legitimate. That is wrong and provably so in the simplest of arguments.
A government is the legal fiction representing the collective. It resides in your mind, and plays out in your behaviour. "The government saying X, Y or Z" --whether we have a lawful right to challenge the law against other laws (ie. the Constitution or Charter) -- does not make it legitimate. The government's alleged intention is meaningless to the larger discussion.
Here is the counter-argument:
You cannot give away something you do not own or have a natural right to possess. For example, I do not have the right to steal from you; nor do you have the right to steal from me. That is an ethical, natural right philosophers and humanity have long agreed upon.
If neither of us have a right to steal, a group of folks saying 'we are the government' cannot then assign its collective-self the right to steal from anyone. Yet that is exactly what governments do through personal taxation of your production and its inflationary monetary policy.
Ergo, the government is de facto illegitimate. It is a thief that rules through force. It is organized crime, a white collar mafioso, only far, far more dangerous.
And if you think changing the political staff of the organization will bring you meaningful change, I think you need to reconsider what is truly going on.

Unfortunately most people are wedded to being obedient Canadian (or name the country) citizens, seeing this as being the height of goodness and honour. What they don't realize is the government has plundered and manipulated them into becoming citizens without informed consent via their birth certificate, and they are therefore ignorant that they have been turned into corporate entities and tricked into giving up their natural rights of ownership, self-determination, right to the fruits of their labour and birth bond trust. Their birthrights have have been plundered of it all by a grand deception and they are none the wiser for it, only left to struggle and complain for a lifetime.

Life is politics. trump is playing politics but evidence in Canada of the very things you are worried about in Trump has been playing out here in Canada for the last 10 years. It is irrational to be afraid of Trump when we have Communist Chinese dictatorship running our country, Nazi sympathizers in our Liberal party who are welcoming the Islamic Caliphate in Ontario. These are an immediate clear and present danger to our existence. Trump is at war with the very things Canada has fallen to. There are 2 globalist factions at war right now because it is inevitable for globalization. The Chinese model of a global marxist Communist unipolar world at war with Russia and the USA for a multiipolar, capitalist christian based one. China and the USA is in an economic war in Canada. We have to take a stand and Communism is not an option. I also personally believe, fascism and socialism are not necessarily a bad with good governance, rules, constitution and human rights. But Marxism, Communism and Nazism are death. It also makes nno sense to be at war with our neighbor who is a super power, which is why we need a competant government in Canada, unless we want to send our children to die in a war we cannot win.
